Sweet Dreams

Just another picture that makes me smile. Gotta love the legs. My favorite thing about Kowin sleeping, aside from the quiet time, is that he always wakes up smiling.

The Park

Whenever we go to the park Kowin only likes one toy. This is it. And this one didn't swing or rock too much, so he walked around most the time. In the end he was sitting in the sand throwing it up in the air and getting it all over him.

Grandma & Grandpa Sperry's

Kowin loves playing on this riding toy. He is all over the place. I just have to make sure he doesn't fall down the hill.
We love hanging out with Grandma & Grandpa. Kowin makes me laugh with how relaxed he looks. Aaww the life to be able to lay down and get dessert fed to you.

Never mind... the video didn't download, I'll try later.

Lessons from a Binki Professional

In this video Kowin's cousin, Ethan, is helping him get his binki in his mouth. Ethan has always had a helping nature. I love how he gets the binki in Kowin's mouth and then lays down next to him to hold his hand. Too Cute!

Kowin's Video Archive

Looking back he looks so little. He was around 10 months old. I totally forgot about all our old video clips. You might be seeing more

Boo Boo's & Band Aids

Kowin scrapped his knee for the first time. Not too bad. He took it well and we didn't even need a band aid. I remember when my niece MacKenzie was 2 or 3, she scrapped her knee really bad. Then sat there with her knee close to her face looking at her small injury saying, "Go Away.. Go Away" in a little whimper. Too Cute.
Kowin has now learned to climb over the couch and go down the other side without falling. I was always apprehensive to let him do this, 1st because I thought he would fall really bad because he can't see how far the floor is. And 2nd because I don't want him doing this at other people's houses. Anyway... I let him do it. I decided he has to learn to listen to me when I say he's only an inch of the floor that it's okay to let go. For him it is very thrilling. For me it is just fun to watch.

One Year Ago

One year ago. Kowin swinging for the first time. He loved it. We went to the park a lot after this day.
I have a video, but it won't download. I will try again later.

2 Year Check Up

I forgot about this picture... but not the experience. We went to Kowin's 2 year check up. Everything went well. Got his finger pricked to test his iron. Went home and got a call that his iron tests were really off and we would have to come back to prick his finger again. Ok. 2 minutes later the nurse calls again. We now need to go to the big hospital because their machine might not be working. Ok. So I pack up Kowin and drive down to the hospital. In order to get to the Lab you go through the ER... and they have to Admit you!!! Never done that before for lab work. (and we do lots of lab work between the two of us) It took 30 minutes to get admitted. In the lab, the routine is normal except for the way the phlebotomist wants me to hold Kowin. I've never had to hold him down before. So he probably wasn't too comfortable. The girl pocked his arm three times with no luck. The next lady came in and got it done her first time. In the end I think a 5 minute process ended up taking an hour. As we were driving home I noticed I had a new voice mail. Checked it. It was the nurse that called before, saying that I didn't have to go to the hospital after all. I could have gone to the clinic. Are you serious?!?!?
Whenever Kowin gets his blood drawn, he always falls asleep on the way home. After this picture he was out for the whole night. What a BAD day!

Crazy Kowin

Kowin plays with pens or markers by rubbing them across his face. It looks kind of funny, but he loves it. People think I am crazy for giving him this type of "toy" because the lid could come off and make a big mess. That has never happened.... until now! He found this marker on the floor while I was working on a project and somehow got the lid off. It made me laugh to see gold metallic marker all over his face. There goes that easy entertaining toy.

Sweet Kowin

Kowin loves climbing up on the bench and being next to his dad while he is working. I think it is too cute. Sometimes he will climb all over Tyler and I and start giving us random kisses and hugs.

Can You Believe He's Two?

Kowin's birthday is today. He has started acting like a two year old just in time. He is all over the place and into everything. I love it. He makes us laugh all the time. Just this morning he was laughing in his sleep. And not a little giggle a full on laugh. Then tonight, he was jumping all over the couch trying to hang over the edge and be a little dare devil. I love hearing him laugh and find enjoyment in life. He amazes me everyday with how he is developing. I can't wait to see what this next year brings. The picture doesn't show his excitement. But he really is happy for the most part
Grandma & Grandpa Goodnow came to visit last week, so Kowin got an early birthday present. A new TODDLER BED! To keep it short... we're still getting used to sleeping IN it. He also got some crayons and art supplies from Grandma & Grandpa Sperry. We are extremely happy with all our new things.

We Love Music

For the past couple days we have been listening to the music from my(anna's) blog. We really like the song Juicy. Whenever any music comes on Kowin gets excited. He has now started saying "usic" which translated means music. He has even learned to sing along to the Juicy song... he says, "awww uicy" He's probably done this 10 or 20 times, and it still gets me. I can't help but laugh. I am going to miss him being this age. Here's a picture of Kowin trying to pick his dad's nose.

How I Play

Kowin loves opening and shutting our bedroom door. And I love getting down to his level, knocking on the door(when it's shut) and say "knock, knock... Kowin can you open the door for mommy" Then I hear a little giggle and it takes a second, but he opens the door every time with the biggest smile. After we say hi to each other for the tenth time, he shuts the door again, I say "bye" and he sits there waiting for me to knock again. I love it!

This is a new thing. Kowin always plays with this stool, and finally realized he could climb over the railing and be surrounded by it. He thought this was really cool. It's so fun seeing kids experience new things.

Diaper Digging

Starting yesterday we had to start collecting a 24 hour urine sample for Kowin. There are these little bags that go over his private part, and by this morning he was reaching in his diaper trying every which way to pull the bags off. Eventually this is what his diaper looked like. I busted up laughing. I love babies butts!(is that bad to put on the internet nowadays)
Hopefully we will get the results soon.

Keep Your Shirt On

Kowin cracks me up. He loves taking off his clothes and putting them back on. Today we are hanging out in as little clothing as possible because it is getting hot here. It go up to a whopping 90 degrees.

Secret Play Place

This is Kowin's favorite place to sneak away and play in. He fits perfectly between the fridge and wall, and is very entertained by the broom.

Kowin was very well behaved during our meeting today. He loves pushing these baskets around.

YaHoo!!!

Kowin is totally walking. I am just so excited. It's so fun watching him cause he laughs the whole time. We might need to finally baby proof our house a little. He rarely runs into furniture, but I fear he will bunk his head on the corners of the tables. So far so good though. YaHoo!!!

Kowin's Plane Ride

Kowin is such a fun person to travel with. During the take off and landing he just giggles. It makes me laugh. I can't wait to fly again with him in a week or so. Our flight out to Arizona we sat in the back of the plane and had a whole row to ourselves. We absolutely loved it.

I Love Arizona

Kowin really enjoyed eating strawberries and swinging on the swing set while hanging out at Jacqui's. What a life! Sounds like a real vacation to me.

The last day in Arizona we went to feed the ducks and play at the park. Kowin loved the swinging sea horse.

Bubbles

We love bath time. Kowin has recently started to wash his own hair. He loves the way the bubbles feel. Today he found out that he could rub the bubbles on his face. Once they get to his mouth he blows bubbles.

Kowin has finally figured out where everything is in our new place. He now crawls all over. The other day I found him in our room. He had crawled into our laundry basket. Too cute, because it is something new for him.

No Needles!

Today Kowin met with his endocrinologist. Every 4-6 months he gets his hormone, glucose, and electrolyte levels checked. In order to do this, they draw blood. Normally he is a very strong boy. Except for today. Not only was he tired, but the phlebotomist missed the vein and had to move it around a little. I felt bad. As soon as Kowin got in the car, he was out for the whole ride home.

I should also mention that Kowin LOVES to bounce in his crib. He holds onto the side while he bounces and shakes the crib. In so doing this, he has broken his crib. The railing that is supposed to slide down and make it easy to pick the babies up is now completely off. Therefore, last night Kowin had to sleep in my. We didn't get to sleep until after 12(yes midnight)That would explain why he took an early nap and even went to bed at seven.(but I won't complain about an early bedtime)

We will find out shortly if Kowin has any problems with his blood tests. So far there haven't been any problems, and we are truly blessed. In the blind community they call Kowin a "Vanilla" blind child. Only because his only health issues are his eyes. With most vision impairments there are other health problems. Like I said before, we are blessed.
